ITINERARY

Please note that all listed run distances can be shortened or lengthened - all abilities accommodated! - and that itinerary is subject to minor adjustments due to weather, logistical considerations, etc.

DAY 1
Arrive in Ljubljana, the green, beautiful and pedestrian-centric capital of Slovenia. After getting settled into your accommodation right in the center of town, you’ll have a relaxed day of wandering the riverfront, checking out the castle or simply taking a post-flight nap before we meet for a big welcome dinner.
No running, dinner (D) included

DAY 2
After a good night of sleep and a relaxed breakfast we will hit the road! Our destination is the karst region of Slovenia, which borders Italy and produces nearly all of the country’s celebrated wine. The run begins at a castle before taking us through picturesque forest, farm land and endlessly rolling vineyards, eventually finishing with a glass of wine at the 300 year old farmhouse that we will call home for the night. Spend the evening recovering in this idyllic setting and getting acquainted with local cuisine as you enjoy one of the best dining experiences in the country.
Up to 10 miles, pavement and gravel road. BLD included

DAY 3
After a breakfast filled with homemade and homegrown everything, we will head to the village of Bovec, set at the foot of the Julian Alps. The run takes us through forest trails and lush meadows, past old stone churches and along the incomprehensibly blue-colored Soca River. After a picnic lunch and a dip – err, icebath – in the river, there will be time to explore the area further: raft the Soca, hike to hidden waterfalls, learn about the major role that this area played in WW1. Later, enjoy spectacular views and food at our guesthouse – tomorrow is the long run!
Up to 10 miles, technical trail and some pavement. BLD included

DAY 4
After a light breakfast we will head to the electric blue source of the Soca, where our long run begins. The route follows the river by way of historical footpaths and forest trails all the way back to Bovec. This run is quite technical, but the views make it all worth it - take your time, and bring a camera! Afterward, enjoy a fresh picnic lunch and a relaxed afternoon around the house – explore the village, take a nap or even get a massage!
Up to 18 miles, technical trail. BLD included

DAY 5
Today we’ll head over the mountains to Lake Bohinj, the lesser-known and more beautiful (we think) sister of Lake Bled. The run is part trail along an amazing river gorge and part cruise around this pristine alpine lake – a perfect way to shake off the effects of the long run! Light snacks and time to swim will follow, then we will head to lake Bled for a chance to check out Slovenia’s best-known (and most photographed) spot. Our grand finale of a dinner will be held near Ljubljana – make sure that you come hungry and ready for an indescribable farm-to-table dining experience! Many hours later we will go to our hotel in Ljubljana, where you are free to go out (or just pass out).
Up to 9 miles, trail, dirt path and pavement. BLD included

DAY 6
Time to say goodbye! Enjoy a final big breakfast before heading to the airport or connecting to additional travel.
No running, B included
